Frederik II's bible

[22] + 353 [i.e. 354] + 226 + 159 l. Wood engraved title-page, Frederik II’s (AND Christian IV’s portrait) mounted on verso. + Full page wood engraved coat of arms and 2 title pages. Preliminary and last leaves with frayed edges, repairs, reinforcements and a few leaves with marginal loss of text. Wear due to age and use. Bound in 17the century full calf over wooden boards.
“This, the second Danish Bible in folio, is the first to be printed by a Dane. The Bible is M. Vingaard's major work, and the largest printing undertaken to be carried out in Denmark during the sixteenth century.”
