A Flemish tapestry depicting “Trading with cherries by the farmhouse” surrounded by a highly decorative wide border of dogs, snakes, dolphins birds, fruits, vines, flowers and foliage. Marked(at bottom): IUNIUS. On the ancient Roman calendar, mensis Iunius or Iunius(June), was the fourth month, following Maius (May). In the oldest calendar attributed by the Romans to Romulus, Iunius was the fourth month in a ten-month year. Executed in wools and silks. 17th century. H. 247 cm. W. 259 cm.
