The artist Petra Foss, née Fischer, stammer fra Ribe. Hun blev gift med maleren Harald Foss (1843–1922) i 1894. Hun udstillede fra 1880 jævnligt på Charlottenborg og flere af hendes værker er i Ribe Kunstmuseums samling, ligesom hun er repræsenteret med et maleri på Museum Sønderjylland.
