Astronaut Russell L. Schweickart: An original NASA colour offset photograph of the Apollo 9 astronaut, colonel David R. Scott (b. 1932) during the jointing together of the command service and lunar modules. Photograph taken on March 9th, 1969. Photo size 20×25 cm. Frame size 33×43 cm.
Apollo 9 was a human spaceflight, the third in NASA's Apollo program. Flown in low Earth orbit, it was the second crewed Apollo mission that the United States launched via a Saturn V rocket, and it was the first flight of the full Apollo spacecraft. The mission was flown to qualify the lunar module for lunar orbit operations in preparation for the first Moon landing, which took place in July 1969.
This is an original NASA colour offset photograph from the early summer of 1969, which shows minimal signs of handling.
