Olafur Eliasson (b. Copenhagen 1967)
Untitled #36, from “The Iceland-series”, 2004. Edition of one. C-print, with signed ceritificate on verso. Framed. 60×90 cm.
The world famous Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson uses photography as a way of studying the concepts explored in his installations. His now iconic landscape series, taken during annual hiking trips in Iceland since the early 1990s, are thus first steps in his important explorations of what it means to see and the elliptical relationship between reality, perception and representation, which is discussed in his world-renowned installations of light, landscape, weather and nature/culture as well as his photographs.
