Feodor Afanasiev, attributed to (, Fabergé, St. Petersburg 1908-1917)
A Russian jewelled, silver-gilt and mounted nephrite cup, in the style of a Byzantine chalice with domed foot and upper border set with cabochon-cut gemstones, the nephrite bowl held within a cagework mount of blossom-tied twisted cables set with gemstones at the crossing points, the upper rim with beaded border, the stem and foot with twisted cable borders, the domed base set on octagonal foot and applied with scrolling ornament of twisted cables. Apparently unmarked. Attributed to workmaster Feodor Afanasiev at Fabergé 1908–1917. H. 14.3 cm. Diam. 18 cm.
