Provenance: Acquired by Gösta Olson, Svensk-Franska Konstgalleriet, Stockholm, 1953. Provenance: Acquired by solicitor of the High Court Franz Bülow around 1986, probably from the art dealer Børge Birch, Copenhagen. Then given as a gift to the current owner's mother.
This little gem of a work is registered as No. 403 in Robert Maillard and Monique Prudhomme-Estève's « Catalog Raisonné de l'Oeuvre Peint ». We have been in contact with Monique Prudhomme-Estève, who has kindly authenticated the painting with the reference to the catalogue raisonné. She was very excited to finally see the work, which so far has been registered without a photograph and a known location. Now this important work in Estève's oeuvre has finally been found, a work which marks the moment when Maurice Estève truly broke through with his art in Scandinavia.
