The creator of the present image, Cecil W. Stoughton (1920–2008), was the first official presidential photograph in The White House and was trusted with the task of following John F. Kennedy in order to depict his political duties as well as his daily life. During the 34 months, in which he served the Kennedy Administration, Stoughton took approx. 8,000 photographs of the President, of his family, of visiting guests and of staff members. The inner images of John F. Kennedy and his Presidency that we all carry today, are due to Cecil W. Stoughton more than to anyone else.
