A German silver cutlery for 24 persons, the handles engraved with the Mecklenburg-Schwerin coat of arms and crowned mirrored monogram for Prince Ingolf to Denmark (the title of His Excellency Ingolf Count of Rosenborg until 1968). Silver fineness 12. Primarily maker I. Gliese, Schwerin second half of the 19th century. Weight excl. knives 4105 g. (72)
Comprising: 24 dinner knives L. 26.5 cm. 24 dinner forks L. 21 cm. 24 dinner spoons L. 22 cm.
Provenance: The silver cutlery belonged to the Ducal family of Mecklenburg-Schwerin and was presumably supplemented in connection with the wedding 24 January 1879 in St. Petersburg between Duke Frederick Francis III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (1851–1897) and Grand Duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia (1860–1922). Thereafter their son-in-law and daughter, King Christian X (1870–1947) and Queen Alexandrine (1879–1952) of Denmark, Sorgenfri Palace; hereafter their son and daughter-in-law, Hereditary Prince Knud (1900–1976) and Hereditary Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Denmark (1912–1995), Sorgenfri Palace; then their son, His Excellency Ingolf Count of Rosenborg (b. 1940) until today. The silver cutlery was a present from the Hereditary Princess to the son, when the Count bought Egeland Estate in 1967.
