A Russian icon with an unusual depiction of the Ascension of Christ. The saviour portrayed between Archangels, the Mother of God and Disciples. Above the Saviour is carried to the sky by Angels with trumpets, and on the border the New Testament Trinity. Tempera on wood panel with “kovcheg”. Russia, 17th century. 35.5×30 cm.
