A private colour photograph of Elvis Presley (1935–1977) boarding a plane in the summer of 1976. Back with handwritten text: “Philadelphia Airport June 29, 1976 3:20 PM. Do not copy. Jim Hammerschmidt”. Exists in this one copy only. Back furthermore with printed text, “This Paper Manufactured by Kodak”. Photo size 9×11 cm.
The present colour photograph is interesting, partly due to the fact that it is a spontaneous snapshot that exists in this one copy only, and partly because it was taken just 14 months before Elvis Presley's early death in the late summer of 1977, making it a sad reminder of his rapid physical disintegration. The reason for his visit to Philadelphia in 1976 was a concert he held at the Philadelphia Spectrum on Monday June 28th.
Lower right corner creased. Furthermore minor pressure marks, horizontal scratch and general signs of handlings. Back somewhat stained. Kodak text vague.
