Ephraim Ståhl, attributed (b. 1767, d. Stockholm 1820, attributed)
A late Gustavian sofa, white painted and giltwood, the back with four loose cushions and seat, openwork sides carved with sculptured griffins, round tapering legs. Early 19th century. H. 88 cm. L. 237 cm. D. 77 cm.
This sofa was presumably made by the Stockholm chair-maker Ephraim Ståhl, master in Stockholm from 1794–1820. His furniture was in high demand, and his workshop furnished numerous castles and manor houses with chairs and couches.
