Freestanding three seater sofa on tapering stained beech legs. Sides, seat and back upholstered with blue, beige checked Cotil wool. Made 1946 by cabinetmaker Ludvig Pontoppidan. L. 215 cm.
Provenance: Hakon Læssøe Stephensen was a trained architect and wrote about architecture in Politiken (Danish newspaper) from 1924. He later became editor-in-chief of Politiken from 1946–1963. Stephensen designed this sofa in collaboration with cabinetmaker Ludvig Pontoppidan for his office at Politiken. Hence by descent in the family.
Normal patina due to age and use, legs with scratches and marks. Lower 4 cm of legs with white residue from washing of floors. Upholstery slightly faded in seat.
