The French divcer and author Frédéric Dumas (1913–1991) first met Jacques Cousteau (1910–1997) in 1937 and this became the start of a lifelong friendship and cooperation between the two men. From 1945–1965 Dumas was attached to the French navy, where he adviced on deep sea diving and human interaction in regards to long stays in water. Between 1956–1964 Dumas worked closely together with Cousteau upon making three documentary films: “The Silent World”, “The Golden Fish” and “A World without Sun”. These were rewarded with three Oscars.
This is an original b/w press photograph from 1953, which has a few scratches and superficial creasings. Furthermore normal signs of handling.
