Nicholas Lambert (, London c. 1730)

A George II longcase musical chiming clock in case of burr walnut with caddy top, brass dial with silvered engraved chapter ring surrounding a matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, the very top with strike/silent, dial with floral engraved centre, chiming the hours on a nest of six bells and the hour on a separate bell. The dial signed Nicolas Lambert, London. Early 18th century. H. 230 cm. W. 50 cm. D. 30 cm.

Nicholas Lambert was one of many Huguenot clockmakers working in London in the first half of the 18th century. Clocks by him are relatively rare. His signature also occasionally appears upon movements retailed by other Huguenot clockmakers, including Simon de Charmes and De Baufre.
