Semen Fedorovich Fedorov (b. Russia 1867, d. Nizhny Novgorod 1910)

A Russian summer landscape with a boy fishing by the river. Signed and dated S. Fedorov 26 VII 1910 (in Cyrillic). Oil on cardboard. 43×65 cm.

Provenance: The Russian Mrs Colonel Antonina Florinsky, née Lyubimov (b. Russia 1874, d. Copenhagen 1963). She and her husband lived in Arkhangelsk and had two children, Natasha and Peter. Antonina Florinsky's husband and son both served in the White Army during the Russian Civil War and died in the service. Natasha married a Dane in Arkhangelsk, and they had a son in 1918. Antonina Florinsky fled to Denmark in 1920, where she was reunited with her daughter and grandson, who had also fled from Russia. Antonina Florinsky travelled with an East Asiatic Company ship from Arkhangelsk and had the opportunity to bring parts of her Russian belongings, including the present painting. Thence by descent to Antonina Florinsky's great-granddaughter with residence in Denmark until today.
