Unknown Photographer: Original b/w NASA photo of the astronaut Walter Schirra, Jr. being placed in the capsule, which is to bring him into orbit. Published October 3rd 1962. Photo size 23×20 cm. Frame size 43×33 cm.

The astronaut Walter Schirra, Jr.'s interest for planes and flying was evoked in a very early age. His father, Walter M. Schirra, Sr., was a pilot during WWI and later in life he and his wife Florence toured with acrobatic air shows. Walter Jr. was only 15 years old when he started performing himself.

Condition

This is an original b/w photo from 1962, which shows normal signs of age and handling.
