Else Fischer-Hansen (b. Copenhagen 1905, d. s.p. 1996)
Untitled. Signed on the reverse. Oil on canvas. 53×42 cm.
Else Fischer-Hansen attended at Emil Rannow's painting school and also received training at a croquis school in Nice.
Else Fischer-Hansen's works appear at first glance as pure abstractions, but most are based on reality. It is concrete sensations and atmospheric impressions, such as the weather, the air and the light, that form the background for many of her paintings, where she re-writes sensory impressions and memories into poetic visions of shapes and colors. Her palette ranges from strong, almost explosive colors and contrasts, to a delicate and transparent color scheme.
She is a member of both the Society of Women Artists, Grønningen and Koloristerne and exhibits at a wide range of exhibitions such as Helhesten's tent exhibition at Bellevue, the Artists' Autumn Exhibition, the Musée d'Aart Moderne, Charlottenborg and more.
