Saturn V was the largest rocket in the Saturn family, a series which was developed under the direction of the German born scientists Wernher von Braun (1912–1977) and Arthur Rudolph (1906–1996) at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The main entrepeneurs were Boeing, North American Aviation, Douglas Aircraft and IBM. Von Brauns design was partly based upon his work with the Aggregat rocket series during World War II in Pennemünde in North Germany - especially A-10, A-11 and A-12.
