Both burned with owner's stamp princely crowned 'L' as inventory belonging to Duchess Louise of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg (1789–1867), née Princess of Hesse-Kassel. First half-19th century. Visible size each 22×27 cm. (2)
Queen Marie (1767–1852) was married to King Frederik VI of Denmark. She was the daughter of Landgrave Carl and Landgravine Louise of Hesse-Kassel. The Landgravine was born a Danish princess as the daughter of King Frederik V of Denmark. Queen Marie was the sister of Duchess Louise of Glücksburg, née Princess of Hesse-Kassel (1789–1869). In 1810 she married Duke Wilhelm of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck, from 1825 Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg.
Landgrave Carl of Hesse-Kassel was the governor of Schleswig-Holstein from 1767 until his death in 1836. The main residence of the Landgrave couple was Gottorp Castle, where Queen Marie and Duchess Louise had their home in their childhood and youth. The Queen has therefore sewn the two views of their family home for her sister, who has had them branded as part of her inventory registration. Queen Marie and King Frederik VI were married at Gottorp Castle in 1790, just as Duke Wilhelm and Duchess Louise's wedding was held here in 1810. After their wedding, they were given an apartment at the castle and all of their ten children were born here. These included King Christian IX of Denmark, Duke Carl of Glücksburg, Duke Friedrich of Glücksburg, Prince Hans of Glücksburg and Duchess Friedrike of Anhalt-Bernburg.
