Knud A. Jørgensen

Unique Honduras mahogany cabinet, upper part with two doors with carvings in the form of naked man and woman carrying pineapple baskets, lower part with two roll front doors. Interior decor, partially maple with 14 trays and 7 drawers, drawer section with carved fish. Made 1950–1953 by cabinetmaker Knud A. Jørgensen and carver Arnold Pedersen. H. 153. B. 120. D. 47 cm.

During his stay in Sweden 1947–1949, Knud A. Jørgensen worked at Åman Åker in Åhus, where he bought this Honduras mahogany, which appears in natural color.

After returning to Denmark, Knud A. Jørgensen got a job at cabinatmaker Duelund in Brabrand, where the tree in the sparse hours of freedom in the years 1950–1953 was transformed into this cabinet for private use.

Carvings on the cabinet are made by a good friend and former colleague, carving sculptor Arnold Pedersen, Odense.

Cabinetmaker Knud A. Jørgensen (1918–1997), was founder and co-owner of Østjydsk Fineringscentral, Åbyhøj.

Condition

Minor wear due to age and use.
