“Up until Lundstrøm was commissioned to paint a few portraits in the later years of his life, he considered a portrait model as an occasion to paint a picture and skipped over the more private elements of the face. As a natural consequence of his sharp observation, the pictures nevertheless often bore a great resemblance to the model's proportions, features and characteristics. And since he was a person and not a machine, he was not unaffected by the charisma of his model during the sittings when they were alone in the studio. As a rule, it was from here that a characterisation of the model's personality arose - Lundstrøm style. For that reason, many of the model paintings from the twenties and early thirties became powerful portraiture” (Wilmann & Brøns p. 239).
