The dancing Genii are possibly preliminary studies for the parapet of one of the boxes at the old Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. However, it is also possible that they were meant for Georg Hilker's decoration of The National Bank of Denmark.

Provenance: By descent in the artist's family.

Condition

One is mounted in passepartout. The paper has turned slightly brown. Some discolouration. The dancing genii with some tears, losses, and discolourations. Examined in frame.
