A Russian 14k medallion, centrally decorated with a star adorned with pearls and an almandine garnet, inside with space for two photographs, each with aperture 3.5×2.7 cm. Cyrillic maker's mark, presumably GB, St. Petersburg town mark, 56 standard. In a Russian 14k gold chain, oblong fluted joints. Indistinct maker's and city mark, 56 standard. Late 19th century. Provenance: The Danish couple, Niels Petersen Gjerdin (1885–1949) and his wife Betty Gjerdin, née Clausen (1878–1949). They traveled to Estonia in 1908, where N. P. Gjerding became inspector of the Almenau Estate (Mäesaare), which was a support manor of the Bentenhof Estate (Pindi), east of Võru. During the Russian Revolution, the couple fled with their children across Finland to Denmark. Thence by descent to their great-granddaughter with residence in Denmark until today.
Minimal wear due to ages including few scratches and possible repairs at the lock.
