“Titania” is the title of the piece of music performed on the piano and the flute.

G. A. Hagemann (1842–1916) manufacturer, chemist, grant founder and local politician. He became known for his affiliation with “De Danske Sukkerfabrikker” (The Danish Sugar Manufacturers). He built sugar factories in Odense, Nakskov, Stege and Assens. He owned a sugar plantation on the island of Saint Croix. He was a member of several important boards. Hagemann is depicted in P.S. Krøyer's painting representing “Industriens Mænd” (Men of Industry), which Hagemann himself ordered from the artist.

Kristian Zahrtmann writes to his mother on 5 January 1905 (in Danish) “... Nothing but bustle. Tonight, I have worked for a month with Hagemann, with whom I have a very good relationship”. Quote from “En Mindebog” (A Memorial Book), Copenhagen 1919, p. 515.

In a letter to the painter Peter Hansen dated 17 December 1904, he writes enthusiastically that Hagemann has asked him to paint a party in the living room of his home in Bredgade 51, 2 by The Marble Church: “I have received a commission, that so far takes precedence over everything else. I am painting Managing Director Hagemann's family. Mrs Hagemann at the fortepiano accompanies their son playing the flute nicely. A newlywed brother with his wife ... then there is the director as well as six young girls. 11 people in total. Beautiful people in evening dresses ........ I revel in the work and light silk fabrics, I feel good ... The task is grand”. Quote from S. Danneskiold-Samsøe,“ Kristian Zahrtmann” Copenhagen 1942, pp. 410–411.
