James Rosenquist (b. Grand Forks, Dakota North, USA 1933, d. New York City 2017)

“Black and white corner study, Slush Thrust”, 1970. Signed Rosenquist 1970. Wooden boards, perspex, painted collage and cotton wool. 43×26×52 cm.

Provenance: Private collection, Sweden.

“Slush Thrust” is the name of an installation that was part of James Rosenquist's solo exhibition at Galerie Rolf Ricke in Cologne in 1970.

The actual “Slush Thrust” installation included a dry ice fog that 'floated' on floor level. This is simuled in the study with the wadding. A similar study titled “Black and White Study for Slush Thrust” is in the Museum Ludwig collection, Cologne.
