Tyskland, Münster, 1 1/2 Taler 1534, Dav. 9583A, 43.85 g. The Baptist Talers (Wiedertäufertaler) were reminted in the 17th cent.; the rare originals are from the Siege of Münster 1534–1535. This piece was produced by the goldsmith J. Potthof (-1607) in the decades around 1600, and it is both significantly rarer and older than the more common pieces by E. Kettler from around 1640. The 1 1/2 Talers are uncommon nominals, and the 1 1/2 Talers from Potthof are very rare.
