“Hadley's Quadrant” (octant) of ebony, bone and brass. Ornamentation engraved. England, 18th century. H. 45 cm.

According to tradition, the present octant once belonged to Peter Freuchen.It has been made according to the same principles as the English instrument maker John Hadley's quadrant from the 18th century.
