Pierre Brizard (b. 1737, d. 1804, master 1762)

A French 'Lit a la Polonaise' white painted bed with canopy, curved padded head and foot of the bed carved with flowers, leaves and scrolls, cabriole legs, the side rails slightly curved and carved with flowers, original bottom and new modern fitted mattress is enclosed, the canopy is held by painted iron construction, recently made silk curtains, bedspread, cushions and bolsters. Stamped 'P. Brizard'. Paris, mid-18th century. H. 296 cm. L. 244 cm. W. 165 cm. Mattress L. 208 cm. W. 160 cm.

Pierre Brizard (1737–1804) was established as a menuisier in Paris, successively rue de Cléry, rue de l'Echiquier and rue Hautefeuille. One Louis XVI armchair with his stamp is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
