Gustav Friederich Hetsch was artistic director of the Royal Porcelain Factory from 1828–1864. Hetsch became a leading figure both as an architect and craftsman in the late classicism of the 1840s and 1850s. During his time at the Royal Porcelain Factory, he created a number of models and decorations based on ancient forms.
