The finished work is in the collection at J.F. Willumsens Museum, is mentioned in J.F. Willumsen's memoirs pp. 18–20 and was the artist's debut work at Charlottenborg, December 1883.

Provenance: Originally gift from the artist to the painter Christian Mølsted (1862–1930).
