A Japanese Samurai Gusoku armour on a mannequin with a set of swords and a Naginata. Kabuto of 16 plates decorated with two dragon flies on the brim and Shikoro of 3 plates - on the front a heart shaped Maedate, Mempo with detachable nose with moustache, Sode of 7 plates, Do hinged in the left side build up of riveted plates decorated with dragon flies on the front, Kusazuri of 5 plates on top of Haidate of 5 rows of small plates, Kote in plates held together with chain mail, Suneate in 3 hinged plates and on the feet bear skin shoes. With the armour, a set of equally mounted swords and a spear. Katane with a c. 54,5 cm long signed blade with 2 holes in the tang, partly gilded Kashira and Fuchi, Maru Gata Tsuba with punch background decorated with a wave in a black lacquered wooden scabbard. Wakizashi with a c. 44 cm long unsigned blade with a single hole for the tang, Tsuba with hole for Kozuka and black lacquered wooden scabbard with a signed Kozuka. The Naginata spear has a c. 197 cm long shaft decorated on the upper part with mother of pearl and a c. 51 cm long blade - with the Naginata, a red lacquered wooden scabbard. (5)
According to seller's information the Samurai armour on a mannequin was a present from the Emperor of Japan to Christian X (1870–1947).
Provenance: Descendants of Frederik VIII (1843–1912) until today.
