Two Russian Ortodox objects:
Russian icon “Our lady of Achtyrskays”, covered by chased and punched gilt silver oklad (no silverstamp but tested). Maker's mark YP, assayer AOB 1777–1789, Moscow town mark 178?. 11.8×15 cm.
A Russian crucifix of brass with enamel work, depicting the crucified christ. 19th century. 16.5×11.6 cm. (2).
Provenance: Patriarch Alexy I of Moscow and All Rus (1877–1970), who 1950–1970 gave Alf Vilhelm Jensen Russian icons, silver etc. Alf Vilhelm Jensen (b. Blair, Nebraska 1909, d. Ebeltoft 1998), dean of Rougsø-Sønderhald-Midt Djurs, Denmark, had a great interest in cooperation with the Russian-Ortodox Church in Russia and Eastern Europe, among others as translater of religious texts. Thus, he got a fine and year-long collaboration with Patriark Alexei I, whom he visited several times in Russia. Thence by descent until today.
