Original black-and-white press photograph of the German airship LZ 129 Hindenburg prior to its departure from Frankfurt am Main in the spring of 1936. Back with agency stamp, restriction stamp, and handwritten year, ‘1936’. Oakwood frame with double glazing. Visible size 14×18 cm. Frame size 25×29 cm.

The airships of the 1920s and 1930s – the largest capable of crossing the Atlantic on regular routes, each with more than 70 beds – were seen as symbols of modernity and progress with their gigantic aluminium skeletons, comfortable passenger cabins and exclusive restaurants, all made possible by the most talented engineers of the time.

Condition

This is an original black-and-white silbver gelatin press photograph from 1936, which appears with surface scratches and marks. Back yellowed and with some discolouration.
