The company was based on seed breeding, import and export of seeds, plants and trees. Hjalmar Hartmann established business relations with many countries, including Russia, which he visited several times. Therefore, it was also convenient to have Russian employees at the head office in Denmark. When Hjalmar Hartmann's son got married in 1937, the present Russian tankard was a wedding gift from one of the Russian employees in the company. Thence by the son's daughter until today.
