Kristian Zahrtmann (b. Rønne 1843, d. Copenhagen 1917)

“Moderen og de to døtre i dagligstuen”. Zahrtmann's mother and sisters in the living room in his childhood home in Rønne. The mother and the two sisters are sitting by the window. The youngest sister is reading a book. The mother and the other sister are sitting with their needlework. Signed with monogram and dated 1878. Oil on canvas. 55×46 cm.

Zahrtmann started to paint this charming interior of his family in 1872 and it was not completed until 1878.
