In British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain's 'Peace for Our Time' statement, which followed the Munich Conference on September 29–30, 1938, he claimed to have reached an understanding with Hitler, an understanding that would secure peace and stability in Europe. Less than a year later this proved dangerously misguided. On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland and two days later Great Britain was engaged in a world war.
This is an original b/w silver-gelatin wire press photograph from 1938, which appears with surface scratches and cropping instructions in red. Back somewhat yellowed and with remains of glued news telegram (?).
