Sven Hedin was a Swedish geographer, topographer, explorer, photographer, travel writer and illustrator of his own works. During a 42 year period (1893–1935 he led four expeditions to remote and inhospitable parts of Central Asia (Tibet, Xinjiang, Pamir).
