ABOUT THE COLOURISTS

The association belongs among Denmark's oldest artists' associations and has exhibited artwork since 1932. The common denominator of the art is in the work with the sensual perception of colours and shapes, understood in the broadest sense. In addition, it is important for the Colourists to reflect the times, and in recent years the group has therefore invited a number of new artists into the association to ensure the continued relevance and vitality of their work.

THE COLOURISTS 2021 – OUT OF SPACE AT DEN FRIE CENTRE OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS

A number of the Colourists and their guests have jointly produced a series of large-scale paintings, which now cover the walls of the exhibition building on the outside. The project is based on a formal experiment, where the artists have collaborated on the works of art. During the final week of January, Den Frie’s exhibition halls were transformed into a workshop community, where different generations of artists met and were inspired by each other. This work process reflects the foundational values of the artists' associations, which have always been centred around the professional community and collective collaborations.
