Odessan jeweller 1908-1917

A pair of Russian diamond ear pendants, each set with an old-cut diamond weighing a total of app. 0.50 ct., encircled by numerous old-cut diamonds, mounted in 14k gold and silver. Apparently no maker's mark and standard mark. Odessa 1908–1917. L. app. 3 cm. (2).

Provenance: Olga Winkert, (b. Kherson, Ukraine 1885, d. Berlin 1981), married to Jasha Jakubson and resident of Odessa. According to family tradition, the earrings should be a gift to Olga at the wedding. In 1922, due to the Russian Revolution and the Russian Civil War, the married couple fled to Berlin with their seven-year-old daughter, Tussja Jakubson (1915–2015). She had her mother's jewelry - including these earrings - sewn into her doll. This prevented the jewelery from being found and confiscated during the escape. Later, the earrings were inherited by Tussja Jakubson, who got married in Denmark and was a resident of Denmark. Thence by her son until today.
