Thorvald Niss (b. Assens 1842, d. Frederiksberg 1905)

Sandy road through heather hills, Jutland. Signed and dated T. Niss 1888. Pastel on paper. Visible size 45×33 cm.

Thorvald Niss visited Skagen several times and P.S. Krøyer painted him for the portrait frieze in Brøndum's dining room with a red cap and smoking a cerut.

Condition

Pinholes along edge. Minor paperloss in upper right corner. Paper slightly brown.
