A silver-plated metal wine cooler. Originating from the restaurant 'Wivex' in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Fitted with loose liner. Sides marked with 'Wivel' and 'Wivex'. Base marked 'Hollandia Plate'. Manufactured in Holland 1919–1931. H. excl. handle 63 cm. H. incl. handle 81 cm.
Provenance: The Tivoli Gardens restaurant 'Wivex' (until 1931 called 'Wivel'). In the years surrounding the second world war, 'Wivex' was one of Copenhagens finest restaurants. The establishment closed 1964. The seller's father ran 'Wivex' from ca. 1960 until closing. x
