Argentina, Republic, Independence Centennial Gold Medal 1916, Constante Rossi, 51 mm, 66.13 g, 0.750 Au. - beautiful, lightly toned and excessively rare Latin American Art Nouveau medal.

The medal was struck to celebrate the declaration given by he the Congress of Tucumán giving independence to the United Provinces of South America (modern-day Argentina, Uruguay, part of Bolivia) on July 9, 1816, from the Spanish Empire.

Incuse inscription on rim: COMISION NACIONAL DEL CENTENARIO DE LA INDEPENDENCIA

Provenance: Karl Marius Widding (1879–1947) who acted as Denmark's consul general to Argentina during the first world war, 1914–1918.
