Purchased by Skagen Museum in February 2012.

Provenance: The old well-known Holst family, Skagen.
L(ars) Holst (1838–1927), borough treasurer, merchant and counsellor. He was a man of importance in Skagen where he worked for the establishment of the new harbour and the railway. His five daughters Johanne, the eldest who left Skagen after her marriage and Ida, Anna, Minne (Vilhelmine) and Sophie, who were painted several times by Michael Ancher. They were called the five Nordic swans.
