August Wilhelm Saabye (b. Skivholme vicarage near Århus 1823, d. Copenhagen 1916)
Portrait of Frederik Hammerich. A white marble bust. Signed and dated A. W. Saabÿe fecit 1881 and inscribed Fr. Hammerich. H. 70 cm.
Frederik Hammerich, 1809–1877, theologican and historian. He was well known in the clerical circles, where he founded Luthersk Forening, The Lutheran Club. He was curate to Trinitatis Church. Frederik Hammerich has written several historical books, among others “Danmark i Valdemarernes Tid” from 1847–1848. Denmark under the reign of the royal dynasty of the “Valdemarene”.
The Museum af Frederiksborg Castle also owns a bust of Frederik Hammerich dated 1879.
