Evald Nielsen (b. Stubbekøbing 1879, d. Frederiksberg 1958)

A sterling silver table clock, of domed square form, the dome with pierced text TIDEN ILER DEN INGEN KAN KALDE TILBAGE (time flies no one can call it back), applied crowned monogram for Christian X and date 1870–1930, cast finial in the shape of a knight on horse, the clock front chased with flower wreath, foliage and rooster, gilt dial with four concentric chapter rings with blue enamel 1–12 Roman numerals, engraved 1–24 Arabic numerals, 1–4 Roman numerals and 1–4 Arabic numerals, sun and moon hands, the sides with men in renaissance attire, surrounded by flowers and foliage, plain back with hinged door and applied emblem from “Haandværkerforeningen i Kjøbenhavn”. Provenance: Present to King Christian X (1870–19347) at his 60th birthday from Copenhagen Craftsmen's Guild.
