Gudrun Lauesen (b. Ferritslev 1917, d. Roskilde 2002)

Calf. Unsigned. Brown patinated bronce. H. 15 cm. L. 19 cm.

This work is extremely representative of Gudrun Lauesen's sculptural practice, which revolves around naturalistic animal motifs. Her sculptures are characterized by an in-depth study of the animals' anatomical expressions – modelled and sculpted so that the animals appear soulful and almost alive to the viewer. Lauesen studied under Bizzie Høyer and subsequently at the Royal Danish Art Academy in Copenhagen. During her own lifetime, she was also a member of the Society of Female Artists.
