King Christian V was the great-grandfather of King Frederik V of Denmark, whose granddaughter, Princess Louise of Hessen-Kassel, married Duke Vilhelm af Glücksburg.

Jacob d'Agar painted several official portraits of King Christian V of Denmark in the 1680s and his workshop has assissted to meet the need for more copies, donated as gifts.

Condition

Some small repairs, one of them still half open. A few small retouches and peelings as well as several small cracks. Areas with previous hard cleaning. The canvas needs tightening.
