In 1946, Finn Juhl was put in charge of the interior decoration of the Porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl's flagship store on Amager torv in Copenhagen. For this interior, he designed a number of unique models that would not be used elsewhere. Among them were a number of tables made of teak, and/or Oregon pine, the same types of wood that were also used for panels and cabinets in the store. The tables were used for the display of porcelain pieces. For the sake of variation, some of the tables were given a painted top. This allowed for a variation in the display of pieces that were often of the same size and basic white colour. The present table was used on the ground floor of the store.
