Original b/w press photograph from Machu Picchu in southern Peru. Front with remains of red cropping instructions/lines. Back with handwritten notes, stamped photograper name (Horace Sutton) and stamped publication dates (August 27, 1966, April 25, 1982). Oak wood frame with double glazing. Visible size 25×20 cm. Frame size 35×30 cm.

American Horace Sutton (1919–1991), one of the great photo documentarists of the 20th century, had a most gifted eye for capturing the special atmosphere of many historical sites, shown here vividly in a shot from the Inca settlement of Machu Picchu in Peru, as he saw it one late summer day in 1966.

Condition

Upper right corner with large crease. Furthermore thin surface scratches. Back with some discolouration.
